New #Articulate skin; dirt cheap.
I’m trying some thing different...
As a developer at a big company I understand that although you might think a shiny new skin is totally worth $1500 your boss does not. Same thing goes for smaller shops too. If your charging 3 grand for a project it is hard to tack on another thousand for ‘skin’. This is one of the reasons I offered my first skin for free.
Since then I have received many requests to create custom skins. The trouble is that most of them can’t afford or get authorization for even a few hundred dollars. Yet it does take time and effort to create them... hmmm a dilemma....
Here is my plan. Come to me with your idea for a skin and I will add it to my list of potential skins. I will eventually build it but may combine other peoples ideas with it.
I will then sell it for...
That’s right. A skin for just eight bucks. I figure at the price even if your client/boss won’t pony up the dough it’s not much out of your pocket. Heck they may even think you did it yourself!
Here are the catches:
- The skin may not be ‘exactly’ as you requested.
- It may take a while to get around to it.
- It will be offered to the entire Articulate community for $8.
If you want an exclusive skin, or must have a certain feature, etc, feel free to contact me. I will try to keep the prices the down.
I think this will be a win-win. The community gets skins dirt cheap and I get tell my wife I am working NOT playing all night on the computer!

I paid the eight dollars to get the Articulate skin, but after paypal confirmed purchase they did not direct me to the download link. i am really excited to get working on this please send me the download link. Must have this to finish a deadline for work, eeek. Thank you.
Hi James. There is a problem with this skin that prevents hyperlinks from working. You will notice with your skin that if you run the mouse over the published results, on the left side (about the left 1/3) the mouse cursor changes to an i-beam. Whatever is there is on top of everything else so if I have a hyperlink in the text on a slide or on an image on the slide and those elements happen to be in the same area where the i-beam appears, then they cannot be clicked. This is a problem because now I have to redesign my layout to avoid that area of the screen (for hyperlinking). Is there any way you could look at this and fix it?
I did confirm that using the other skins/templates like Corporate Communications works just fine.

Hi there. I have a requirement to produce chromelss output from Articulate/PowerPoint - just straight flash without any kind of shell around the powerpoint content.
The option for "slide only" in Presenter essentially creates this effect, however, there is a slide background around the actual powerpoint content that consumes space and constrains the powerpoint content into a smaller viewing area.
Your skin manages to increase the powerpoint content viewing size by 13% but without having a "slide only" view available, it doesn't quite work for me.
Any chance that you can adjust the skin so it includes a slide only viewing option as another person here suggested?

The trouble is that the Articulate player is 980x640. I can re-skin the player but cant really change the size of it... I've been toying with some ways to adjust it with javascript within a div tag.
I was recently contacted with a proposal to built a skin that really maximizes the content area. I hope to have more news on that soon.
Thanks for the quick reply. Is there any way to turn off the bottom navigation so that there isn't any visible navigation on-screen? If the bottom navigation bar could be turned off even if the powerpoint content doesn't enlarge any further, that would be terrific.
FYI - I simulated the effect by changing the colors of all the elements that run along the bottom of the skin to be the same color as the background I am using (in my case I made everything white). This effectively hides the navigation (though it is still there and consuming that bit of space at the bottom of the screen). This is the closest I've gotten to a clean (skinless) presenter published output and I'm happy with it!

I noticed that if you resize the browser window to make the window larger vertically, you can see the bottom of the Engage interaction at the top of the screen. Just thought I'd mention it.

Can you add the full screen option if selected?
Full screen is a bit more complex because you need to edit some javascript files manually. The SDK doesn't let me mess with that part.
But it can be done. I posted some files and demo last month on this topic:
